CSEC for Peer Support Staff: Advocacy, Strategies and Understanding the Clinical Needs

This training provides peer partners with an overview of clinical concerns and strategies to be utilized with caregivers, youth and families impacted by human trafficking. It will offer groundbreaking perspectives on CSEC and trauma; review common diagnoses and best practice therapeutic interventions; offer practical tools for engagement, intervention and support; as well as address special considerations, barriers and self-care. All information will be applicable to the role of peer support staff, parent partners, etc. The presenters will utilize real life scenarios combined with applicable research to share in an engaging manner. The training will be interactive and delivered from a solution-focused and hopeful perspective.

At the end of this course, the learner will be able to apply the following related to CSEC survivors, caregivers, and families:

  • Define CSEC and trauma indicators from a broader and survivor-focused perspective
  • Recognize common mental health diagnoses and clinical interventions
  • Outline target outcomes
  • Recall special considerations
  • Summarize common barriers
  • Adapt strategies for engagement and advocacy
  • Discover their own markers for vicarious trauma and create a personal intervention plan
