Module 1:  Leadership Identity and Vision

Goals:

  • Become familiar with effective management models and tools that drive results in Human Services
  • Understand the relationship between management and leadership
  • Become familiar with the framework for effective management in Human Services
  • Complete a self-assessment on the knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to be an effective manager in Human Services
  • Develop a transfer of learning action plan that allows you to make the most of your learning experience

Module 2: Leveraging EI and SI

Goals:

  • Discuss results of 360 Assessment: Leadership Practices Inventory
  • Develop a leadership action plan
  • Become familiar with emotional intelligence and conscious leadership
  • Examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and conscious leadership
  • Complete a self-assessment emotional intelligence
  • Examine emotional intelligence in teams
  • Develop a transfer of learning action plan and commit to EQ leadership practices

Module 3: Promoting Teamwork

Goals:

  • Identify ways to facilitate cooperation among team members to accomplish group goals
  • Use a framework to build team trust
  • Develop an action plan based on team behaviors

Module 4:  Ethical Decision Making and Problem Solving

Goals:

  • Examine the foundations of ethical leadership and decision making
  • Explore the top reasons for ethical failures in organizations
  • Explore and apply an ethical decision-making model
  • Examine the benefits of critical thinking skills
  • Learn a framework for applying critical thinking skills to problem solving
  • Review how your perspective influences your thinking
  • Practice critical thinking in the context of problem solving

Module 5: Systems Thinking/Leading in Context

Goals:

  • Develop partnerships internally and externally in implementing sustainable systems change
  • Learn frameworks to manage conflict and exercise influence
  • Explore and practice a 6-step process for delivering feedback up, down and across the organization

Module 6:  Leading Change

Goals:

  • Establish, communicate, and implement an organizational vision in a continuously changing environment
  • Apply a systems perspective to the process and drivers of implementing change
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning as a leader and address systems change issues

Module 7: Building Individual and Organizational Capacity

Goals:

  • Apply concepts of a results-oriented culture and apply processes and resources to achieve accountability and measure results
  • Examine the importance of the manager’s role in workforce development
  • Review the needs of a stable, committed, and competent workforce
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and address systems change issues
