Identifying and Calculating Overpayments and Overissuances

This workshop explores different types of Overpayments that occur in the CalWORKs Program and Overissuances in the CalFresh Program. It also informs the participant of the correct computation and collection of claims established through this process. As a result of this workshop participants understand key concepts associated with the computation and collection of overissuances. Topics include: Types of Overissuances, how to compute overissuances, Collection methods and Restoration of Lost Benefits

Topics Include:

• Gaining knowledge of types of overpayments and overissuances in CalFresh and CalWORKs
• Defining and reviewing terminology in regards to Overpayments (OP’s) and Overissuances (OI’s)
• Calculating and establishing OP’s and OI’s accurately and in accordance with current state and federal regulation
• Reviewing collection methods available for repayment of CalWORKs overpayments and CalFresh overissuance claims
