Human Trafficking and the Impact to Tribal Communities

Human trafficking is a growing criminal activity. Commonly referred to as the second or third largest criminal global enterprise, many jurisdictions are beginning to recognize the scope and prevalence of trafficking in their communities. The curriculum of this course has been specifically tailored to address and analyze the challenges facing California’s tribal communities. California has a patchwork of state and tribal lands. Our tribal partners face legal, societal and systemic barriers that create or exacerbate historic vulnerabilities which traffickers have and will seek to profit.
