This training provides an overview of the dynamics and prevalence of domestic violence and teaches participants effective advocacy skills that support safety and empowerment across systems. In addition, it will help community professionals and members recognize the dynamics of violence, understand the complex impact of domestic violence on individuals, families and the community, and learn how and when to take steps towards intervention.
Participants will:
- Review the physical and mental health consequences of domestic violence
- Explore some of the reasons why victims stay
- Dispel myths associated with domestic violence
- Recognize interventions available to help domestic violence victims
